Respect. The meaning is always the same but the value is held different amongst different people influenced by different culture. Growing up with Asian parents I was raised to respect everyone no matter what the situation was. Don't know them? .. Doesn't matter, "you will respect them". I've lived with this "rule" for many years up until recently; I've had a change of thought. Why do I respect people who I have no concern about as if I was handing out respect like hotcakes...as if I had a pocket full of respect waiting to be handed out to the next person I see. Respect is nor black or white, yes or no, respectful or disrespectful. You do not have to respect a person just because... Respect should be held high.. worthy enough to be Earned. Where am I getting to...a neutral state of consciousness before respect and disrespect. You don't HAVE to do anything. It can be a short or long time before either respect or disrespect is shown. If I were to only respect or only disrespect everyone I've every come across then the words would be meaningless. You can take a gable with respect and hand them out like hotcakes hoping for some hotcakes in return..or you can hand down respect like trophies...and hoping to earn a few trophies yourself.

ps... whats the value of a hotcake anyway
